Who is GEDA?
The Gauteng Economic Development Agency is the first point of contact for smart investors and entrepreneurs who need access to unlocking new value in Gauteng, South Africa and the Southern African Development Community region and beyond.
What we do?
The agency is responsible for marketing and facilitating the economic, investment and trade promotion of the province. GEDA’s key objective is to identify market investment opportunities and to respond to requests for assistance from local and foreign investors. GEDA’s strategy is wholly aligned with national and provincial government objectives and processes, thereby creating an investor friendly environment.
Our mandate
Our mandate is, ‘to implement and promote the economic development policies of the Gauteng Provincial Government in the areas of economic production, investment and trade’.

An example of GEDA’s success is the facilitation in excess of R7 billion worth of investments into the province since its inception.
Our Economic Profile and Policies

Gauteng Provincial Government and its economic wing GEDA is totally committed to creating a welcoming climate for business people, entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world. Gauteng offers attractive incentives with its business friendly policies by assisting anyone wishing to share in the exciting investment opportunities available in Gauteng - South Africa’s smallest but richest province. Gauteng is South Africa’s main manufacturing centre, with almost half of all the country’s factories located in the province.

Johannesburg is Africa’s third largest city. There are 159 mines (44 gold) in Gauteng that together produces a quarter of South Africa’s total mineral production. Most of the mining is for gold and accounts for 80 percent of Gauteng’s output.
